[Overview]

Overview

Mi Ticketek is a digital wallet designed to help users access, manage, and transfer their event tickets directly from their smartphones. The project aims to simplify ticket management by providing users with quick access to their tickets before and during an event.

As the design lead, I worked directly with the technical director, a product designer, and the development team, guiding decisions regarding the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), defining interaction patterns, and maintaining consistency throughout the product experience. The first version is currently in the pilot phase, initially focused on the 133rd Argentine Polo Championship.

[The challenge]

The challenge

Ticket management covers a range of scenarios, from access to a single ticket to the management of multiple events, dates, and transfers. One of the main challenges in terms of user experience (UX) was organizing tickets in a way that made them clear and predictable across different event formats. For example, a user might attend several matches during a month-long polo tournament and, at the same time, have tickets for a completely unrelated event. The experience had to accommodate these overlapping scenarios while keeping ticket access simple, fast, and reliable.

Key design considerations:

  • Quick access to upcoming events and tickets
  • Organization of events with multiple dates
  • Visibility of ticket status and relevant information
  • Ticket transfer
  • Quick access to QR codes on tickets
  • Consistency across different event types

[My role]

My role

As the design lead, I coordinated the design work and collaborated closely with the development team throughout the entire project. Working directly with the technical director allowed me to align product decisions with technical feasibility and business requirements.

My responsibilities included defining user experience (UX) criteria, guiding and reviewing the product designer’s work, reviewing edge cases and different input states, collaborating with developers during implementation, and ensuring consistency throughout the product experience.

At the same time, I was tasked with developing visual identity proposals for Mi Ticketek and Validate Go and designing the Mi Ticketek commercial landing page.

[The design approach]

The design approach

Organizing Tickets by Event

A key design decision was to establish a clear relationship between events, dates, and individual tickets. This was particularly important for long-running events, where users might have multiple tickets for different dates while attending other events during the same period. The goal was to create a flexible information structure without adding unnecessary complexity.

Design for Real-World Use

Accessing a ticket typically occurs in a specific context: upon arriving at a venue, approaching an entrance, or preparing to scan a QR code. These moments require a clear information hierarchy, recognizable actions, and minimal friction. We took into account the entire process, from finding a ticket in one’s wallet to presenting it for validation at the venue.

[The Ticketek ecosystem]

The Ticketek ecosystem

My involvement with Ticketek also included working as a UX Consultant on Validate Go, the application used by venue staff to validate tickets.

Before its launch, I participated in reviewing the experience, considering usability and the operational needs of ticket validators.

This provided valuable context for the wallet project, connecting two sides of the same experience:

Mi Ticketek: Accessing and presenting tickets.

Validate Go: Verifying tickets at venue entrances.

Understanding both products helped inform decisions around ticket accessibility, information visibility and validation workflows.

[Visual identity]

Visual identity

As part of my contribution, I developed visual identity proposals for both applications.

Mi Ticketek
A customer-facing identity focused on digital ticket management and easy recognition.

Validate Go
An identity proposal for the operational application used by venue staff.

The objective was to explore a consistent visual relationship within the Ticketek ecosystem while giving each product its own recognizable identity.

[Commercial landing page]

Commercial landing page

Alongside the mobile experience, I designed the commercial landing page for Mi Ticketek.

The goal was to introduce the application, clearly communicate its benefits and provide users with a straightforward path to download it.

The landing page focuses on:

  • Introducing the app and its purpose.
  • Communicating key features such as ticket access, management and transfers.
  • Presenting the mobile experience through visual content.
  • Directing users to the app download.

This extended my involvement beyond the product interface into its digital communication and acquisition experience.

Current status · V1 pilot

Mi Ticketek is currently in its first testing phase, initially available for the Argentine Open Polo Championship.

The objective of this pilot is to collect real-world usage data, evaluate user behavior and gather metrics that can help identify friction points and opportunities for improvement.

These findings will inform the design and development of Version 2, planned to expand the wallet experience to the rest of Ticketek's events.

The project follows an iterative approach, using real usage data to validate design decisions and establish priorities for future improvements.

[Key takeaway]

Key takeaway

Leading the design of Mi Ticketek meant working across product experience, technical constraints and real-world event operations.

Collaborating directly with the CTO, designers and developers reinforced the importance of building a flexible product structure, especially when designing a solution intended to support different event formats and user scenarios.

With V1 currently being tested, the next stage will focus on using data and user behavior to evolve the experience and support a broader rollout.
